We have moved beyond the sexual ethics of the Bible.
And perhaps that is OK.
Experience and Reason
Common Christian advice when forming ones beliefs is to weight the evidence from scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. As we sort out what we believe on different topics it can be helpful to weight what these four sources have to say. What does the Bible say (or not say) on this topic? What do our traditions say? What does reason say? What does experience say? Sometimes we will find tension between the four sources. Sometimes we may choose to give more weight to one or two sources over the others. We should think long and hard before taking a path that veers away from most of these sources.
